Solid Wall Insulation
Was your home built before the 1920's? If so, chances are the property will have solid walls. After the 20's,external walls were mainly built using two skins of brickwork creating a gap that can now be filled with cavity wall insulation. With soli
d walls this gap does not exist and therefore cannot be insulated using this method.
Solid wall insulation has therefore been developed to bridge this pitfall, allowing such properties to now be insulated. The good news is that though the work costs more to undertake, the savings made in reduced fuel bills can be greater for a wall treated in this manner as opposed to cavity insulation. Solid wall insulation can also overcome other limitations such as timber or steel framed buildings where cavity insulation may not be suitable.
Currently, we supply façade solid wall insulation systems. This method involves attaching sheets of insulation to the outside of the property and then covering this with the final finish. We believe this is the best option for solid wall insulation on the market today for the following reasons:
- Little or no disruption inside the property compared with internal insulation
- Will not reduce the internal floor area of the property
- Rejuvenates the external appearance of a property
- Adds additional weather proofing, increasing the lifespan of existing brickwork
